Love Letter
Keep one card. Read the room.
- 2–6 players
- Best with 2–4
- 15–25 min
- Card deduction
How to play
You hold one card, draw another, and play one. Every card has an effect. Be the last one standing, or hold the highest card when the deck runs out.
- Everyone holds one card. On your turn you draw a second card, play one of the two, and do what it says.
- Guard: name a card (not Guard). If another player holds it, they are out. Priest: look at another player’s card. Baron: compare cards with another player; the lower card is out.
- Handmaid: no one can target you until your next turn. Prince: choose any player, even yourself, to discard their card and draw a new one. Chancellor: draw two, keep one, return the others to the bottom of the deck.
- King: trade cards with another player. Countess: you must play her if your other card is the King or the Prince. Princess: if you play or discard her, you are out. Spy: no effect now.
- A round ends when one player is left or the deck runs out; then the highest card wins. The winner earns a favor. If exactly one player who is still in played a Spy, they earn a favor too.
- Favors needed to win: 6 with two players, 5 with three, 4 with four, 3 with five or six. Out players come back next round.
