How to play
Choose trump, read your partner, and win eight tricks. Rotterdam rules: you must trump, and you must overtrump. Sixteen deals.
- Four players, two teams. Partners sit opposite each other. Teams are drawn at random. Sixteen deals; the highest team total wins.
- The dealer deals 3–2–3. The player left of the dealer names trump, even a suit they do not hold, and leads the first trick.
- Follow suit. If you cannot follow, you must trump, even if your partner is winning. A trump must overtrump the highest trump on the table when you can. When trump is led, overtrump if you can.
- Trump ranks J, 9, A, 10, K, Q, 8, 7; other suits rank A, 10, K, Q, J, 9, 8, 7. The last trick adds ten points, making 162 in a deal.
- Roem is counted for you: a run of three scores 20, four scores 50, trump K + Q adds 20, and any four of a kind scores 100. It goes to the trick winner’s team.
- The declaring team must finish strictly ahead, including roem. Otherwise they go nat: zero, and opponents receive 162 plus all roem. Taking all eight tricks earns the 100-point pit.
